In today’s world of the never-ending rat race, when we are all chasing money and success, it’s easy to feel overworked and overstressed. People spend most of their lives at work. Often they stay late or take a second job since one salary isn’t sufficient to meet their basic needs. Things get more complex when people have families and kids to feed. Everything ads up and people find themselves constantly overwhelmed and unrested. Is it really worth jeopardizing your own health and well-being though? Stress and anxiety are the first steps to depression and a slow death. Your physical and mental health should always be put above work. That’s why it’s good to know how to beat daily stress, which in turn will actually result in performing better when you’re in the office! There are a couple clear ways to help reduce stress, and improve efficiency.
Get the Right Amount of Sleep
The first tip we have for you is pretty straightforward, but unfortunately, forgotten by many. It’s getting the right amount of sleep! Do you go to a 9 to 5 job? You’re going to really need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep to function correctly. Why? Because during that time, your brain rests more than any other time of the day. The statistics are terrifying – around 60 million Americans don’t get sufficient sleep. At a bare minimum, you need to be getting 7+ hours. If counting sheep doesn’t help, then focusing on your breathing, one of several recommendations from psychologist Sharon Melnick. Try covering your right nostril and breathing only through the left one for three to five minutes.
If you already have the obvious ones down, like exercise and sleep, but still you are stressed, then you should try some good old marijuana. Maybe your luck and in Nevada, and you can just google marijuana dispensary las vegas and head to the nearest one. These days there are tons of different forms, from tinctures, concentrates to edibles. If your dosing correctly, you don’t have to worry about freaking out. Cannabis has been known for its healing properties for centuries and never once has someone overdosed from it. Not only is marijuana great for stress relief, but is also great for sleep disorders and is a fantastic painkiller. Smoking a joint from time to time can help you be a calmer and happier individual.
Eat Right and Regularly
Another often overlooked factor in staying stress-free is having a balanced diet, low in sugar, but rich in proteins and vitamins. Healthy eating habits are crucial to your well-being. So, try to provide yourself with all the essential nutrients the body needs. Bring some fruit to work as a snack for example. As they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
Schedule your day correctly
I know it seems mundane and boring but schedule your day properly. Trust me. Like everyone else, you probably have a million things to do. But before completing them, ask yourself which of them are of utmost importance. Only then will you be able to organize your work effectively. Set your priorities, ideally creating a to-do list, and stick to them. This way, you’ll concentrate only on these things that must be done immediately, eliminating additional stress connected with other responsibilities. Don’t forget to pencil in some time for loved ones!
Once you set your priorities, try to eliminate any other distractions that you can. Eliminating less essential tasks is only the first step. What about the tons of emails, phone calls, instant messages, and urgent deadlines that manage to take over our days? The best we can do is keep cool and again reduce all possible interruptions. Turn off your phone or block Facebook, Instagram, and any other major and unnecessary distractions. They may make you happy in the short term, but trust me, they will make it worse in the long run.
Under no circumstances should you forget about breaks! We all need them. You can’t be calm and productive if you work 8 or 10 hours in a row. It’s been proven that after 90 minutes of intense concentration, you need a short break. Either drink a cup of coffee, chat with your coworkers, or just go outside and take a deep breath of fresh air, but devote yourself from 10 to 15 minutes to a cool down, and you’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes.
There is no way for us to get rid of ALL our stress but some simple tools like breaks, organization, and of course, a little cannabis can make all the difference.
