In a recent e-mail note from licensed producer WeedMD Inc. (TSXV:WMD) (OTC:WDDMF) (FRA:4WE), the company’s CEO, Keith Merker, apologized to medical marijuana patients for running out of weed alongside Canadian recreational legalization.
“Over the past two weeks, we have fallen short on our supply of certain medicinal cannabis strains. For this, I offer my sincerest apologies.”
Despite the fact that WeedMD is “ramping up production” to meet the needs of patients, this inventory mix-up could send some patients elsewhere for medical marijuana.
For WeedMD patients in Canada that depend on certain strains for certain ailments, it probably doesn’t feel too good to get an e-mail from your provider letting you know that due to recreational legalization, “Canada’s cannabis industry has experienced an unprecedented demand. This increase has put pressure on both licensed producers and third-party testing laboratories.”
The patients were around providing the company with revenues long before retail customers, and that’s what’s so backward about this situation. At least they get a discount code for 15% off their next order on the WeedMD e-store…
