As the CBD market heats up to be a multi-billion dollar industry, a long list of celebrities and professional athletes have joined the fold including at-home sweetheart Martha Stewart, former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, and more. Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian is even planning a CBD-themed baby shower. The latest star to join the CBD industry, however, is professional skateboarder Tony Hawk.
In a press release from 1933 Industries Inc. (CSE:TGIF) (OTC:TGIFF), the cannabis and CBD product producer announced a major licensing agreement between its subsidiary, Infused MFG, and Tony Hawk’s House of Hawk, LLC.
Founder Tony Hawk commented,
“We’re excited to be a part of this new movement that is becoming more recognized as a healthy alternative to recovering from the aches and pains that we regularly incur in the action sports world.”
Whether you know him from his impressive skateboarding career or just from his skateboarding videogame series, Tony Hawk has amassed nearly 6 million followers on Facebook, over 4 million followers on Instagram, and just under 4 million followers on Twitter.
Chris Rebentisch, USA COO and Founder of Infused added, “Tony is an internationally recognized action sports figure and responsible for fuelling the growth of skateboarding as a professional sport.” As of 2016, there are nearly 6.5 million skateboarders in the United States alone, and skateboard shops in every single state.
That amounts to an industry worth nearly $5 billion, and a lot of aging Tony Hawk fans. With the potential health benefits of CBD including joint relief and more, this partnership may prove to be a lucrative one for everybody involved.
House of Hawk will be working with Infused MFG to launch several co-branded products, including CBD recovery creams and lotions, as well as hemp-only recovery creams and lotions. In addition to the Canna Hemp™ and Canna Hemp X™ brands, there will even be a line of hemp-derived CBD products sold under the Birdhouse Skateboards™ brand.
Birdhouse Skateboards, which is wholly-owned by House of Hawk, is one of the most well-known skate brands in the world due to its network of sponsored professional and amateur skateboarders as well as its worldwide distribution through Zumiez Inc. (NASDAQ:ZUMZ) which, according to a recent SEC filing, operates 607 stores in the United States, 50 stores in Canada, 34 stores in Europe and another 7 in Australia. Last but not least, Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse Skateboards brand’s products are sold through e-commerce giants like Amazon and skateboarder favorites like CCS.
