A recently released Flash Report from Akerna Corp. (NASDAQ: KERN), a leading compliance technology provider and developer of the MJ Platformยฎ shows that marijuana sales are booming during the Coronavirus pandemic.
MJ Platform seed-to-sale and point-of-sale data from March 11th 2020 through March 18th 2020 showed medical cannabis sales were up 20.8% and recreational cannabis sales were up 11.6%. On a product category level, flower sales were up 22.6%, vape sales were up 9.7%, and edibles sales were up 12.4%
โCannabis operators are running an essential business,โ said Ostap Rapeyko, business intelligence analyst, Akerna. โOn March 11, when major news of the potential impact of COVID-19 indicated changes in lifestyle, buying patterns were at normal rates. However, a week later, on March 18, sales increased by 19.2% overall.โ
